Adebayor to Milan: Arsenal should take the money and run

Matthew Day says Arsenal would be mad not to accept £15m for as and eye up the Togolese forward.

Arsenal were playing the fool of the show when demanding £35m for as came sniffing.

Having halved their demands, however, Arsène Wenger may yet rid of the Togo forward for as much as £15m - a sum that should immediately be accepted by Arsenal.

Adebayor has frequently frustrated Arsenal fans with his poor finishing and equally pitiful attitude, though he showed numerous glimpses of brilliance last season, suggesting he could yet become the next Shevchenko. Milan are hoping for as much.

At 24, Adebayor still has age on his side but Wenger clearly believes that he has not progressed at a satisfactory rate. Cesc Fàbregas and Samir Nasri are two shining examples of talent that blossomed at an early age; meanwhile, Adebayor has stagnated as Arsenal search for a predator in front of goal to replace Henry.

With also registering their interest, Arsenal might be looking at a tidy figure for a striker who has never managed to prove himself in the Premier League.

Arsenal could go for as a replacement - with the Paraguayan reportedly ready to leave Blackburn following manager Mark Hughes’s defection to Manchester City. Originally a target for Manchester United, Santa Cruz now looks London-bound after Sir Alex Ferguson reignited his interest in Tottenham hitman .

A summer of striker switching is set to commence.

  1. WOW! I THOUGHT I’D SEEN CLUELESS, INEPT AND LAZY HACERY. THEN I STUMBLE ON THIS CRAP! WHAT A LOAD OF GARBAGE. IF ADEBAYOR IS SOLD, IT’LL BE FOR CLOSER TO £25 MILLION.

SAYING ARSENAL WERE PLAYING THE FOOL FOR DEMANDING £35 MILL SHOWS WHAT A CLUELESS FUCKWIT THE WRITER IS. ANY OTHER PERSON WOULD SAY ARSENAL HAVE PUT THAT PRICE ON HIS HEAD AS THEY DO NOT WANT TO SEEL HIM. BUT NOPE, NOT THE IDIOT HACK WHO WROTE THIS SH*T.

  2. WOW! JUST READ THE REST OF THIS CRAP! SO NOW ADE IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE STAGNATED DURING A SEASON WHERE HE IMPROVED BEYOND RECOGNITION AND SCORED 30 GOALS, LEAD THE LINE SINGLE HANDED AND RAN HIS SOCKS OFF TOO.

    WHAT AN ARSEHOLE!

    HILARIOUS PIECE OF INFANTILE WRITING.

  4. i dont agree with this at all…adebayor will be a lot harder to replace than people seem to think…he is certainly worth more than 15m in todays market…he missed his share of chances but to be fair he took 30 of them…i know stats arent proof of much but i read on a blog only ronaldo had better shot/goal ratio last season…bar none…as an arsenal fan id love to agree with everyone who thinks hes not fit to wear the shirt but im not convinced…take 15m and run? rubbish. absolutely terrible article from someone who clearly didnt watch much football last season…i dont want ade on my team anymore either but we do have to face up to losing a 30 goal striker…bought time we cut the crap i think.

  5. i think wenger has done adebayor’s career alot of good and by that i thnk he shld stay at least to say thank you to arsene and to a lot of gooners who kept faith with him despite his unpardonable misses but if he feels he has arrived wenger shld let him and bring a more purposeful striker in

  7. Great post mate, agree 1000 per cent. Having travveled all over europe to watch this worthless cunt embarrass out team’s strikers history, i couldn’t agree more. Terrible shooting, passing and control.Get rid of him NOW!

  8. I feel a lot dumber then 2 minutes ago, Thank you dear matthew Day. you obviously have no idea what you are saying Not proven himself (30 goals in 48 games) although i wouldnt give him new contract worth 100,000 a week before he has another season similar to this one, he is hardly someone you would wish to get rid of. If peter crouch is worth 11 million he must be worth at least 25. Or are you suggesting that Man U should get rid of wayne R. for missing all the chances and not being prolific in any of the seasons so far, for lets say 5 million.

My appologies if you are 5 years old or writing this from mental institution

  9. Agree replacing Ady will be much harder than some of the more emotive contributors think. Obviously d’Eto could do it, but we’ve got one crock already up front.

£35m was a marker. We dont need to sell but given his attitude and if a Wenger thinks he can find replacement then we should let him go if we get something close to £30m.But I doubt Santa Cruz is really good enough and Martins certainly isn’t.

  10. You people are clearly on drugs if you think Adebayor is worth £35m. That is almost 15 million quid more than Liverpool paid for Torres. Do you think Adebayor has shown more potential than Torres had shown a year ago? How many chances did he actually manufacture for himself, as opposed to others manufacturing them for him? How many times did others do all the hardwork only to have Adebayor waste it? Obviously I am not the only one who thinks 35 million quid is insane because Barca and AC Milan were not willing to touch him for that sort of money. Now it has come out that Wenger has contacted AC Milan saying he would cut the price in half. Too bad for you Gunners AC Milan looks to be on the verge of signing Ronaldinho and will no longer be interested in Adebayor because they said they only have enough money to sign one of the two. Have fun in a transfer market where only one club is willing to purchase Adebayor for even half of the original £35 million (Barca) because they know there is no way you will grant him the threefold wage increase that he desires, because, as we all know, an unhappy footballer is a pretty useless one for the cause.
