There is a lot of deliberate obstruction - the ball should be protected by the feet I see players place their bodies between an opponent and the ball. It is now difficult to enjoy the game - just about evry minut there is a whistle - please do something. Whistles should be common in offsites, out balls, and neccessary faul plays. People do not pay to come and see poor behavious. I want to suggest that strigent rules are put in place to offset obstruction, deliberate fauls, cheats, and the use of elbows that are a source of injuries. A yellow card should go with lost of wages for that game. Two yellow cards for aTwo card a game should get to the coaches pocket too to incite him to get to his players. A red card should follow two games suspension without pay will set the tone and revive the game's integrity. The players may think they are young but they hold important roles in communities and must act accordingly to project the very game that provides them a living. I would like for some FIFA official to get comment on this or carry a debate in this important matter -

I am a Cameroonian but reside in the US. I am, have been, and will always be a soccer fan all my life but I must confess that it is no longer fun let alone interesting to watch men soccer games. It is an absolute disappointment and disgrace. Soccer is a fun game but the players have become very irresponsible and violent and are a disgrace to the game. The game is based on principles - you go for the ball and not the person unlike some othersports that anyone is a target of some form of abuse. They teach our kids that violence is okay and part of the game which is not. Soccer is not so much a contact sport as it is portrayed these days. Players teach our children to cheat because they commit fauls and argue. This is very bad for the soccer game and FIFA needs to take charge in this matter to minimize the lost of interest in the game.

As an Irish Football supporter i am obviously looking at this drama from a biased viewpoint, saying that i also love GAA in equal measure, being from County Tyrone. It is for that reason that i would like to pose these questions:

Could Theiry Henri be possibly of Irish descent? the way he took the ball down and unshelfishly passed to Gallas rather than going for a point was admirable. With this thought in mind would he not be a handy new find for both Trappatoni and GAA like the great socrates?( http://ucdhiddenhistory.wordpress.com/2009/06/30/... Or was he and FIFA looking for a lucrative sponsorship deal with Neutrogena for the forthcoming 2010 final in the Cape? Was France really handed on a plate by Septic Bladdered, who will ever know?signed. South Paw

When football is controlled by some oligarchs who pretend to spread the words of fair play and ethics, who even use some professionals like Thierry Henry in television campaign to promote fair play, what is the point? The point is that my children who enjoy so much this game where proper behavior is being taught to them and then must watch what is being done by some players they consider their mentor erase a line about attitude. Mr Platini and Mr Blatter fiercely opposed any video review, claiming that it would break the rhythm of the game don't realize that they are braking the belief that we hope for this game to improve and braking the heart of our little ones. I am French and my wife is Irish. And what I saw last night was the most disgusting behavior! Mr Blatter and Mr Platini pretend to represent the interest of the game, but they don't make the game we do. I profoundly hope that, we the amateurs, the fans, the viewers will stand up once and for all to send a strong message that sport is one of the last areas where we can teach proper value to our children.

In defence of Ronnie Whelan, I'd say a fair chunk of footballers would have done the same as Henry. Sounds like Duffer would, and Kevin Doyle told Sky more or less the same thing: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8367895....

Did Henry cheat in this match? Yes. Does he have a history of cheating. Not really, If a few isolated incidents can be considered a "form" then there are quite a few players (Rooney, Michael Owen, Fernando Torres and Stephen Gerrard come to mind) who have exhibited far more egregious "forms" when it comes to cheating.

And by your standard Christian Ronaldo could have been banned for a dozen lifetimes.

Should FIFA act? Absolutely. But to ban Henry would be just as unfair as his handball.
