Ibrahimovic scores only goal in El Clásico
FC Barcelona last night won yet another El Clásico. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the only goal in this prestigious game against rival Real Madrid.
It was uncertain until the last hour if both teams’ mega stars, Leo Messi and Christiano Ronaldo, would start the game. But both did, and Ronaldo had a good start with a big chance in the 19 minute. Only a great save by FC Barcas goalkeeper Valdez kept the game at a tie.
Overall, the first half was very even between the two teams. Real Madrid had the best chances to score but Barcelona had more possession.
6 minutes in to the second half, Ibrahimovic came on, playing his first match since his last injury. Ibra got a very warm welcome from the fans at Camp Neu which he repaid very quickly. In the 55 minute Alves made a deep cross which Ibrahimovic volleyed past Casillas with his left foot.
Only 7 minutes later Sergio Busquets in FC Barcelona got his second yellow card for the evening putting Barca decimated to 10 men. Real Madrid increased their pressure after this and had there best chance in the 80th minute after a corner. Benzama missed from very close distance. The last 10 minutes FC Barca controlled the game comfortably and could celebrate its 60th El Clásico win.
It has been a great week for FC Barcelona. First they won the “must win” game against Inter Milan in Champions League without an injured Messi and Ibrahimovic. Secondly, and to finish of the week, they took another El Clásico scalp.
